  • This set is a compilation of raster imagery at various scales. All data contained is available for download from the LINZ Data Service. THIS DATA DOES NOT REPLACE NAUTICAL CHARTS AND MUST NOT BE USED FOR NAVIGATION. Note: This set contains charts at a variety of scales. Use of LDS web map tile services for this set is not recommended as the scaled charts overlap. The hydrographic raster data made available through the LINZ Data Service is based on the Paper Navigational Charts published and maintained by the New Zealand Hydrographic Authority at Land Information New Zealand (LINZ). The online New Zealand Chart Catalogue provides more detailed and the most up to date information about New Zealand charts: [New Zealand Chart Catalogue] (http://www.linz.govt.nz/sea/charts/paper-charts/nz202-chart-catalogue). Information on symbols and abbreviations used on nautical charts: [Symbols and Abbreviations] (http://www.linz.govt.nz/sea/charts/paper-charts/symbols-terms-abbreviations-used-charts). Hydrographic standards and specifications for nautical charts and publications: [Standards and Specifications] (http://www.linz.govt.nz/sea/charts/hydrographic-standards-technical-specifications).

  • The NZ Imagery Survey Index dataset provides an index to all orthophoto index tiles found on the LINZ Data Service. Each record in the dataset provides both a geometry of the maximum extent of the orthophoto index, as well as all attributes found in each index tile. This dataset therefore provides information to assess orthophoto coverage and metadata across the entire country. Please refer to the [NZ Aerial Surveys Data Dictionary](https://nz-imagery-surveys.readthedocs.io/en/latest/introduction.html) for detailed metadata and information about this dataset. The imagery data referenced by this dataset is available on the [LINZ Data Service](https://data.linz.govt.nz/data/category/aerial-photos/).

  • This index enables you to identify the freely available georeferenced TIFF images of sounding sheets held by LINZ for the New Zealand coastal area. Some of these sounding sheets date back to the 1930s. The polygons comprising the index show the extent of each original hard copy sheet - not just the soundings shown on the sheet. The attributes attached to each polygon will enable you to view, amongst other attributes, the date and scale of the bathymetric data shown on the sounding sheet. Please refer to the LINZ Bathymetric Index Data Dictionary for further information about the attributes of this dataset. The georeferenced TIFF images are not downloadable from the LINZ Data Service. Requests for sounding sheets should be sent to hydro@linz.govt.nz with “Hydro Bathy Data” in the subject line. Requests must, as a minimum, specify the id, chart_no and serial_no as shown in the attributes attached to each polygon representing the sounding sheets of interest. LINZ also holds images of New Zealand sounding sheets provided by third parties, which are subject to different licencing terms and conditions. View our "NZ Scanned Sounding Sheet Index – Third Party" dataset to request these sounding sheets.

  • This index enables you to identify the georeferenced TIFF images of sounding sheets held by LINZ throughout the SW Pacific region. Some of these sounding sheets date back to the 1950s. The georeferenced TIFF images are not downloadable from the LINZ Data Service Requests for sounding sheets should be sent to hydro@linz.govt.nz with “Hydro Bathy Data” in the subject line. Requests must, as a minimum, specify the id, chart_no and serial_no as shown in the attributes attached to each polygon representing the sounding sheets of interest. The provision of this bathymetric data may be subject to some delay as LINZ confirms with the data owner that they are happy for their data to be released. The owner may attach conditions to the release of their data.

  • The NZ Elevation Survey Index dataset provides an index to all LiDAR derived elevation datasets found on the LINZ Data Service. Each record in the dataset provides both a geometry of the extent of the elevation survey, as well as useful metadata attributes. The extents are derived from the maximum extent of DEM and DSM coverage and consist of full NZTopo50 1k tiles, even where a tile is only partially covered with data. These extents only provide a rough indication of corresponding point cloud coverage which can be quite different for some elevation surveys. Please refer to the [NZ Aerial Surveys Data Dictionary](https://nz-imagery-surveys.readthedocs.io/en/latest/introduction.html) for detailed metadata and information about this dataset. The elevation data referenced by this dataset is available on the [LINZ Data Service](https://data.linz.govt.nz/data/category/elevation/).

  • This layer includes all Crown Land and Properties managed by LINZ which have been identified spatially and can include properties managed by LINZ on behalf of other agencies. The attributes in this dataset are derived from the National Property and Land Information System (NaPALIS), which is a centralised database for all Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) and Department of Conservation (DOC) administered land. The boundaries of many properties are linked to the applicable Landonline Primary Parcel(s), but in some cases the boundaries may have been drawn in as unsurveyed parcels to varying degrees of accuracy. As such please note that the boundaries are indicative only. The layer excludes any LINZ managed properties which do not have an identified location or extent. More information on Crown Property can be found under the [Crown Property section](http://www.linz.govt.nz/crown-property) on the LINZ Website. A subset of Crown Property can be found in the [South Island Pastoral Leases layer](https://data.linz.govt.nz/layer/1572-south-island-pastoral-leases/). A table of Property associations to Primary Parcels is published in the [LDS here](https://data.linz.govt.nz/table/3450-property-parcel-association/).
